In a Truth Social post on Saturday morning, Trump blamed “ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE” for his current predicament.
He encouraged his followers, stating, “THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”

The possible indictment concerns an alleged $130,000 payment made by Trump in 2016 to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to keep her silent about a claimed affair in 2006, which Trump has denied.
On Saturday, he maintained his innocence and pointed out that Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s campaign had received significant funding from liberal billionaire George Soros.
If indicted, Trump will make history as the first US president to face criminal charges after leaving office.
A Trump spokesperson told The New York Post on Saturday, “There has been no notification, other than illegal leaks from the Justice Department and the DA’s office, to NBC and other fake news carriers, that the George Soros-funded Radical Left Democrat prosecutor in Manhattan has decided to take his witch hunt to the next level. President Trump is rightfully highlighting his innocence and the weaponization of our injustice system.”
Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, allegedly facilitated the payment to Daniels. Cohen pleaded guilty to violating federal campaign finance laws related to the payments in 2018 and served three years in prison.
Speaking with The New York Post on Saturday, Cohen said, “Donald would have no reason to put out the statement unless he has been contacted by the DANY and advised accordingly,” adding, “Donald’s post is eerily similar to his battle cry prior to the January 6th insurrection; including calling for protest. By doing so, Donald is hoping to rile his base, witness another violent clash on his behalf and profit from it by soliciting contributions.”
According to Fox News, law enforcement is discussing the terms and “logistics” of a potential arrest next week with the Secret Service. This could lead to Trump being handcuffed, fingerprinted, and escorted to court.
Harvard law professor and former Trump attorney Alan Dershowitz told Fox News on Friday, “If I were him, I would be worried,” and cautioned that any attempt by Trump to have the case dismissed is unlikely to succeed. Dershowitz added, “I don’t think there’ll be a motion to dismiss that succeeds. This is New York justice. In New York, of course you can indict a ham sandwich. But in New York, you can also convict a ham sandwich because the jury pool will be very much against Trump and the judges will be very much against Trump.”
