(GoRealNewsNow.com) – In an alarming event that is bound to worry airline passengers, a potential terrorist threat unfolded mid-air as American Airlines Flight AA292 from New York to Delhi was forced to divert to Rome.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner carried 199 Americans and crew members.

On February 22, past evening, Flight AA292 departed JFK International Airport, embarking on what should have been a routine journey to New Delhi, India.

However, the situation took a dramatic turn when the flight was over the Caspian Sea, far from American shores.

In a chilling development, a bomb threat was received via email, prompting immediate action from the flight crew and air traffic controllers.

Demonstrating the swift and coordinated response that keeps Americans safe, two fighter jets were scrambled to escort the aircraft to Rome’s Fiumicino airport.

Following the harrowing incident, American Airlines issued a statement, “AA 292, operating from New York to Delhi, has been diverted to Rome due to a potential security threat onboard.”

“We are working closely with local authorities and will provide updates as the situation develops. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our passengers,” it continued.

As the aircraft approached Rome, eyewitnesses reported seeing fighter jets patrolling the skies and fire trucks lining the runway, prepared for any eventuality.

Upon landing, all 199 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the aircraft.

“Safety and security are our top priorities and we thank our customers for their understanding,” the airline remarked.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the safe landing, stating that it occurred “after the crew reported a security issue.”

American Airlines emphasized its appreciation for passengers’ patience and cooperation.

While the scare was resolved without incident, it serves as a stark reminder of the security challenges international air travel faces.
