11-Year Sentence Announced – He’s A Predator!

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Convicted fashion mogul and sexual predator Peter Nygard was sentenced to 11 years in prison for sexually assaulting several women in a hidden bedroom suite at his company’s Toronto office.

According to a local newspaper, an Ontario judge described Nygard as a “sexual predator” and a “Canadian success story gone very wrong” during the sentencing.

Originally from Finland, Nygard immigrated to Canada and built a successful, affordable women’s clothing brand that expanded across North America. However, in November, he was convicted on four counts of sexual assault.

His victims, some as young as 16, were assaulted over a span of more than 20 years.

Now 83 years old, Nygard would invite women to his office under false pretenses, such as giving tours or holding job interviews. Prosecutors explained that once inside, he would lure the women into his private bedroom suite, sometimes drugging or intoxicating them.

Nygard’s custom-built suite, as prosecutors described, featured “a giant bed, a stone jacuzzi, a bar and doors — doors with no handle, doors with automatic, keypad-operated locks controlled by Peter Nygard.”

In 2020, Nygard’s net worth was reportedly around $900 million, but he is now facing additional civil and criminal charges in the U.S.

Furthermore, Nygard has been fighting extradition to the United States since 2022, but earlier this year, a Manitoba court ruled that he must surrender to face charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering.

Back in December 2020, federal prosecutors in Manhattan revealed a nine-count indictment accusing Nygard of luring young, impoverished women to his Bahamian estate with promises of money and modeling gigs.

At least ten women have filed lawsuits in New York, stating they were as young as 14 or 15 when Nygard drugged or intoxicated them before assaulting them.

Since then, 57 women—including 18 Canadians—have joined the lawsuit, accusing Nygard of using violence, threats, bribes, and company employees to lure victims and evade accountability for decades.

Nygard has denied all accusations, claiming it was all part of a conspiracy involving a feud with his billionaire neighbor in the Bahamas.

Last year, a New York state court ordered Nygard to pay $203 million in a defamation case brought by his neighbor, billionaire hedge fund manager Louis Bacon.
